Please note the following regulations for transportation of sealed lead-acid batteries:
- The battery must not have any leakage.
- The battery is disconnected and the terminals are insulated to
prevent short circuit. (This can be easily accomplished with a
positive terminal cover, covering the positive terminal with
electrical tape, or covering the terminal with a piece of cardboard.)
- The pilot is notified before departure that the battery is aboard.
(The airline personnel at the check-in counter should do this.)
- It is recommended to leave the batteries in the wheelchair or scooter
during transportation. If the battery is removed, then the battery
should be protected against short circuits and securely packed in a
strong outer package.

Wheelchair and scooter batteries can be transported by any
means of transportation by land, sea or air. This includes UPS
and FedEx.
- The batteries need to be properly packaged so that they are
protected against short circuits and secured in a strong outer
package.
